Last term, we had the opportunity to create podcasts and record our final Ukulele session. We have attached these below for you to listen to. All of the podcasts are planned and recorded by the children and I think you can agree, they have done really well for their first time. We also hope to showcase our Ukulele skills during the Easter term to show you how far we have come since our first recording. A great effort!

TERM 3 -  A great two terms, where we have started to embed our learning and build strong foundations so that we can continue to develop our understanding. We have been focusing on sentence structure and ensuring the fundamentals are consistently used – capital letters and full stops. A reminder that a sentence is made up of a subject and a verb. This is called a main clause.

In Maths, we have been recognising that the answer is only the beginning and breaking down our understanding, showing that if you know the basics, maths can become easier. We continue to focus on our timestables and answer those in less than 6 seconds.

Jigsaw – In this puzzle, the children talk about their hopes and dreams. They discuss how it feels when dreams don’t come true and how to cope with / overcome feelings of disappointment. The children talk about making new plans and setting new goals even if they have been disappointed. The class talk about group work and overcoming challenges together. They reflect on their successes and the feelings associated with overcoming a challenge.

Some key Year 4 messages:

- A timetable will be on the outside of the classroom to share the learning that will take place throughout the week. There is also one on the internal door and a visual timetable on the whiteboard.

- Termly newsletters will be attached below for you to see the term's learning in more detail and will also be sent out via email.

- PE is on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please make sure you come to school in your kit on these days. This term, it is Tag Rugby and Netball. Children will need appropriate clothing as both lessons are outdoors.

-Don't forget your reading book, reading log and water bottle in your book bag – all really important things for a successful day at school.

-Prioritise practising your times tables, spellings and reading fluency - these are core skills for Year 4 children.

-Homework will be set on a Friday and consists of spellings, a focus times table/maths activity linked to the week's learning and a wider curriculum activity.  Spellings will be tested on the following Friday. AR quizzes-

You will need to click on the Accelerated Reader section, not the STAR test section.

-Two brilliant things to look forward to: Our Year 4 residential to Kingswood and our special Year 4 production at Easter.

- Red book bags should be used rather than rucksacks as per our policy.

* Please see the links below for the Year 4 'Meet the Teacher' powerpoint. This gives lots of information about the year group in case you couldn't come to the meeting.*
