School Council
Making Kingsnorth even better.
Kingsnorth School Council meets once every fortnight and is made up of 1 child per class from Years 2 to 6. These elected representatives attend formal meetings during which school issues are discussed with the aim of giving the children the power to impact our school. Some issues are brought by the members themselves as a result of discussion within their Class Councils. Occasionally, the Council will take the lead on a fundraising project in line with the school’s charity giving for that year. Above all, the School Council aims to give members a say in decisions about their school, becoming a responsible group that makes a difference. Our members sometimes write formally to our local community, cooks or teachers to suggest improvements. It is very exciting when we receive replies!
The School Council takes a leading role in making things happen, particularly voicing the children's opinions about Opal, how the PFA money is spent and everyday school life ideas.
We will be inviting the school Governors, Senior Leadership Team, PFA and other staff members to attend some of our meetings, so that there is an opportunity for school council to raise issues and share ideas with all members of the school family.
The School Council is excited to be raising awareness of and supporting the next 2 events on our calendar. Week beginning 10th November 2025.

How can families help?

In previous years, we have supported a number of charities over the academic year. However, after discussion with the school council members, we have decided that there are already enough pressures on families regarding the cost of living and have therefore significantly reduced the amount of times we will ask for donations to other charities.
We hope you can appreciate the reasons behind this decision.
Massive thanks and congratulations to the school council members for showing such maturity, kindness and community in thinking about this decision.

Should you have some brilliant ideas to share with our school, please contact a member of the School Council. We look forward to hearing from you
