Positive Action School
An Introduction to Positive Action
Our school is pleased to announce that we are working together for Positive Action! We will be working on this throughout this year and into next year as part of a pilot programme working with 14 other schools in the Ashford District.
Through Positive Action, all pupils in Years R-6 will have daily lessons and opportunities for developing their self-concepts: the way they feel about themselves.
Positive Action is a curriculum to enhance self-concept, a program that we believe will benefit each child in our school. The Positive Action curriculum develops students’ self-concepts and promotes total wellness, competency, and healthy lifestyles.
Schools using Positive Action have seen dramatic effects in students’ academic achievement, behaviour, motivation, responsibility, and communication skills.
Positive Action’s teacher-directed learning activities take 15–20 minutes a day, and positive behaviours will be reinforced all day, every day throughout our school. Although the activities differ for each year group, every class will be working on the same concepts at approximately the same time.
For more information about Positive Action and for specific suggestions for reinforcing these concepts in your home, we recommend that you purchase the Positive Action Parents’ Manual found in the Climate Kit or purchase the Positive Action Family Kit. More information is available through the school office.
